Stromness Academy

Stromness Academy is one of two secondary schools in Orkney with approx 350 students. During the Games it will host Football and Gymnastics, as well as providing dormitory accommodation for many competitors across all the Sports.

Stromness Academy is located in the west of the Mainland, a short 20 minute drive from the main town. Rebuilt in the 1980’s, the school was moved to the outskirts of the town, including extensive sporting and social facilities. In 2010, a large extension opened housing a new fitness suite.

Gymnastics

The Gymnastics facilities include a games hall, gym hall, training area and changing facilities. All equipment for the Women’s competition will be upgraded between now and the Games.

Triathlon

The Academy will provide a base for the Triathlon.

Football

The Academy will provide a base for the Football.
