Venue Information
The Cycling will take place across Orkney's mainland.
- The Time Trial will use Firth Community Centre as a base and start at Firth Primary School. Time Trial bikes or road bikes are welcome.
- The Road Race will start at Harray Hall, as well as using it as a base.
- The Criterium will take place around Kirkwall town centre.

Training and Warm-Up Information
Once the precise venues and routes for the Cycling competitions have been established, a comprehensive Training and Warm up programme will be published. Please check here for further details in due course.
Equipment
Competitors are expected to have their own bicycle in addition to appropriate safety equipment.
Time Trial Bikes can be used for the Time Trial.
Competition Format
Wednesday 16 July Road Race: A circular route around Orkney’s West Mainland. Suggested distances: Women 60-75km (37-46.5 miles), Men 100-120km (62-74.5 miles).
Monday 14 July Time Trial: A there-and-back route along the east coast of West Mainland. Suggested distances: Women 30-40km (18.5-25 miles); Men 40-50km (25-31 miles).
Friday 18 July Criterium: Through Orkney’s largest town, Kirkwall. Suggested distances: Women 30-40 minutes + 5 laps; Men 45-60 minutes + 5 laps.
Mountain Bike
The Cross Country and Short Track Mountain Bike competitions will now be held at two different venues.
The Short Track on Tuesday 15 July will be held just outside Kirkwall on a short fast track designed to test the speed and agility of even the best riders.
Thursday 17 July's Cross Country Event will take place on an exciting new course showcasing the best of Orkney's countryside with steep climbs, open fields and dense woodland.
