The Orkney 2025 initiative aims to celebrate those who go above and beyond to make the island a better place to live, work, and thrive. Whether they’ve led community projects, contributed to local charities, or helped others in extraordinary ways, these unsung heroes deserve recognition.

Nominations can be made under two categories, Adult Community Champion and Junior Community Champion.

The Adult Community Champion is open to adults who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to an unpaid activity within the community. Examples may include:

• Starting or running a local community event or project
• Raising significant charitable funds within a community
• Extensive voluntary involvement in not-for-profit groups such as safety initiatives, healthy living programs, or environmental efforts
• Volunteering that has positively impacted an individual or group

The Junior Community Champion celebrates young people (under 18 years old) who have made an outstanding contribution to the community. Nominees must meet one of the following criteria:

• Showing a caring attitude to someone disadvantaged
• Performing an act of bravery
• Contributing to the betterment of their community
• Achieving excellence in education, training, employment, or extracurricular activities
• Demonstrating inspiring qualities and acting as a positive role model for others
